College of Human Ecology
Founded in 1983, the College of Human Ecology was so-named to emphasize its commitment to human dignity, family prosperity, and environmental protection. Our programs cover everything central to the human experience, from fundamentals such as food, clothing, and shelter, to other needs such as travel, education, and happiness.
A wide array of programs are available at the undergraduate and graduate levels through the Department of Restaurant, Hotel and Institutional Management; Department of Child and Family Studies; Department of Food Science; Department of Nutritional Science; Department of Textiles and Fashion (with three modules to choose from); Graduate Institute of Museum Studies; PhD Program in Nutrition and Food Science; and the MA Program in Brand and Fashion Management. We aim to become a globally renowned college recognized for its commitments to human health and prosperity. Our teaching and research therefore focus primarily on food, housing, education, happiness, leisure, and health.
Mission
As part of the College’s commitment to the lifelong health and prosperity of human individuals, we uphold the ideals of Truth, Kindness, Beauty, and Holiness. Core Curriculum
The curriculum is rooted in human ecology and a practice-oriented pedagogical approach. It is designed to meet social demands and is bolstered by collaborative partnerships with members of academia and industry. This means that students will have several options upon graduating, both within academia and in the professional world. Since our programs are directly linked to serving the community, the curriculum ensures that students gain broad knowledge of the liberal arts, social sciences, and natural sciences in addition to the specific knowledge and skills required for success in their field of expertise.
