College of Fashion and Textiles
Building off of the long history and remarkable accomplishments of the Department of Textiles and Clothing, the College of Textiles and Clothing celebrated its grand opening on August 1, 2017. The College of Textiles and Fashion is comprised of the Department of Textiles and Clothing, which offers B.A./ M.A. and in-service M.A. programs, the Graduate Institute of Museum Studies; and the MA Program in Brand and Fashion Management. Programs are international, professional, innovative, and designed to develop specialists for the textile and garment industries as well as fashion curators in the greater China area. We’re committed to enhance our global position and make it a leading edge fashion school in Taiwan.
Core Curriculum
The curriculum helps students build a foundation in three key areas: marketing and management; technology and techniques; and design and culture. Courses provide students with the skills to be successful in the cultural and aesthetic economies. Students also learn technical skills for the innovation market, competitive analysis skills, and skills to integrate and apply their knowledge in the creation of original works while boosting their mobility in the global market. What students learn here allows them to flourish and innovate in fashion, design, and branding.
Teaching Facilities
We are the only college on campus to enjoy an exclusive building. To stay on top of the latest trends and seek support from business, we have been investing in upgrades to our facilities and software programs. Our Chinese Textiles and Clothing Culture Center houses more than ten thousand garments, offering our hard-working students a highly professional and diverse learning environment.
Internationalization
- We have created exchange programs with the University of Borås (Sweden), Ryerson University (Canada), and the University of Iowa (USA), and we’ll be soon be signing dual-degree agreements with these partners.
- FJCU became the first university in Taiwan to gain membership in the International Foundation Fashion Technology Institutes (IFFTI) in 1999.
- FJCU Talent Platform was created to broaden students’ global horizons, raise the visibility of leading Taiwanese designers, and enhance students’ competitiveness in fashion markets. We set up FJCU Talent Platform as part of our strategic collaboration with industry in 2016 to give students room to grow and develop on the world stage. We have already worked with Fashion Scout (UK) to send students to participate in London Fashion Week 2017, which garnered attention from domestic and international media.
Career Paths
Our graduates have the option of continuing in advanced studies or starting a career in the public service. Our alumni also find satisfying careers in textiles, clothing, fashion, cultural creative industries, brand management, media, and museums.
