College of Liberal Arts
The College of Liberal Arts traces its history back to 1929, when Fu Jen was still located in Peking. The College re-opened with Fu Jen’s re-establishment in Taiwan in 1961, and is today comprised of three departments: Chinese Literature, History, and Philosophy. The college also offers four certificate programs to open up diverse paths for students to enhance their education: Ancient Books Collation and Studies, Philosophical Consulting, Applied History, and Applied Chinese. The Research Center for Pre-Qin and Han Studies offers students the chance to enhance their academic expertise. The center holds routine seminars in collaboration with the Institute of Scholastic Philosophy (Academia Catholica). Finally, the college fulfills its social commitments as a Catholic institution through five student volunteer groups. These groups are led by instructors who guide students in service-learning initiatives aimed at assisting the disadvantaged both at home and abroad.
