Academic Goals
- Building off our proud traditions and past achievements, we aim to train professionals for the fields of journalism, communication studies, and advertising. We want our graduates to be socially engaged citizens who are passionate about justice and equality, while possessing the skills to be innovative and strategic.
- Students will acquire the theoretical knowledge and technical know-how required to join and adapt to the constantly-evolving communication industries.
- Teaching and research are grounded in public communication – we are interested in what the public thinks. In a word, the College is devoted to greater welfare and justice in the community.
The College is currently looking to progress in three critical areas. We want to:
- Raise our Academic Position Globally
The College is implementing a three-phase strategy for growth: (1) Establish firm roots in Taiwan; (2) Consolidate our position in Asia; and (3) Go global. To these ends, we host international conferences, workshops, and seminars to promote broader learning and expand the global horizons of faculty and students alike.
- Boost Collaboration with Industry
We actively seek collaborative opportunities with partners in industry which are designed to enhance students’ expertise while preparing them to join the professional workplace upon graduation. Initiatives include setting up internship programs with influential businesses and encouraging students to participate in international competitions. Such projects aim to ensure that students can practically use their education in the professional sphere and become active members of the international community.
- Expand our Social Engagement
Our goal is to train creative, well-rounded professionals equipped with robust communication skills. Professional knowledge and technical know-how form the foundation of our approach, while the curriculum also incorporates resources and media technology to provide service to the local community. Students will also explore ideas and strategies which are effective in founding socially innovative start-ups and other entrepreneurial activities. On top of acquiring professional knowledge and skills, students are expected to develop a philosophy of service-learning by fulfilling their obligations to the wider community.
